Gair o Groeso / A Word Of Welcome
 Welcome to the
Festival of Wales website sponsored by the Ontario Gymanfa Ganu Asoociation. This is a particularly auspicious
time for our organization as we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2011. In 1961, Douglas Jones and a
group of committed Welsh men and women decided to host a spring weekend of cultural celebration in Niagara Falls.
In various communities across the province, that celebration has been continued each spring for the past fifty
years. During that time, dozens of Welsh choirs have thrilled us with their singing; talented soloists have shared
their music; those who enjoy writing poetry have joined with others of like interests to share their efforts; and
friendships have been renewed. But of course, the centerpiece has always been and continues to be the two Gymanfa
sessions on the Sunday of each weekend.
We invite you to join us in at
the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel in Niagara Falls from April 29 to May 1, 2011. Join us in friendship, in song and
in celebration. Let’s keep the tradition of our Ontario Welsh Festival alive and vibrant. To accomplish this, we
need your support and presence next year and in the years ahead.
Betty Cullingworth,
President / Llywydd
